The Hunger Games: Catching Fire shows it only takes a spark

Every rebellion only takes a spark and in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the spark is Katniss Everdeen.

Following the brilliant film version of the first novel in Suzanne Collins’ thrilling and disturbing dystopian trilogy won’t be easy. Writer /director Gary Ross did such a superb job that new director Francis Lawrence needs to deliver something special with the sequel due in November – The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. But perhaps the odds will be in his favour as he shares a surname with his star, the luminous (and now Oscar-winning) Jennifer Lawrence back as heroine Katniss, whose spirited presence made the first film so memorable and is the reason the new one opens on a serious note of revolution.

Joining her are the fantastic ensemble from the first movie: Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson and Lenny Kravitz, along with new addition Philip Seymour Hoffman who makes a great impression in the seriously good-looking first trailer.

“Because of her, they all think they’re invincible.”
