Darkness and light are powerful forces in Star Wars: The Last Jedi

December can’t come soon enough after our first tantalising glimpse of Episode VIII – STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI.

“I only know one truth. It’s time for the Jedi to end”.

It’s been a little over two months since one of the most eagerly awaited teaser trailers of the year debuted but now the dust has settled (a little) from the ecstatic response and I’ve watched it countless times, it felt about right to go gaga again by publishing this post.

Basically, the UK release date of December 15th can’t come soon enough if the first teaser is anything to go by for STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI. Those words, spoken by the one and only Luke Skywalker (the similarly described Mark Hamill) dominate the 2:02 trailer where we see what director Rian Johnson has in store for us in Episode VIII.

The smartly cast new triumvirate are all back. Daisy Ridley who made such an impression in Episode VII is the mysterious and gifted Rey. The fantastic Adam Driver is the conflicted Kylo Ren/Ben Solo. And John Boyega is the heroic Finn. They’ll be joined again by Oscar Isaac as dashing Resistance pilot Poe Dameron, Gwendoline Christie as the no-nonsense stormtrooper Captain Phasma, Andy Serkis as the malevolent Supreme Leader Snoke and Domhnall Gleeson as the terrifyingly driven General Hux. As for the new cast members and characters, we have newcomer Kelly Marie Tran, the superb Laura Dern and the terrific Benicio Del Toro. Quite what their parts are, of course, is shrouded in mystery – and that’s part of the fun.

The new episode in the saga will also herald the final screen appearance of the bold and brilliant Leia Organa played by late and much lamented Carrie Fisher. Will Leia meet her rebellious son Ben Solo and also be reunited with her long-lost brother Luke? And what does Luke mean “It’s time for the Jedi to end”?!?

I can’t wait to find out!! But in the meantime, take a look at that teaser…
