The award-winning screenwriter Taylor Sheridan is taking us back into the dark heart of the drugs war in SICARIO: DAY OF THE SOLDADO.
It’s time for the next chapter in the saga, welcome to SICARIO: DAY OF THE SOLDADO. Sicario was my standout film of 2015. With a dynamite script from Taylor Sheridan, this drama about America’s war on drugs was brought terrifically to life with his usual mastery by director Denis Villeneuve and his frequent (and incredible) director of photography collaborator Roger Deakins.
Now two of the main stars of that original movie Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin reprise their roles of assassin Alejandro and federal agent Matt Graver respectively for SICARIO: DAY OF THE SOLDADO. Returning with them from the first movie is Jeffrey Donovan, back in the fight as Brolin’s sidekick Steve Forsing. And new additions to the cast include Matthew Modine, Catherine Keener, and Isabela Moner.
Italian director Stefano Sollima, whose previous credits include the landmark TV show Gomorrah, takes over the directing reins from Villeneuve and by the look of the teaser trailer now on the web, in June 2018 we can expect another visceral journey into the cartels.
