Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it’s definitely the Man of Steel

Superman shall now be known as the MAN OF STEEL when he returns next summer in the very exciting looking new blockbuster – get ready.

Accompanying The Dark Knight Rises on its release at the moment and debuting recently online, is the teaser trailer for this return to Metropolis and the exploits of its most famous adopted citizen not called Superman but the MAN OF STEEL.

Following his visionary take on the epic Battle of Thermopylae in 300 and the dark comic book Watchmen, director Zack Snyder seems to have all the credentials for helming this rebirth and with Christopher Nolan executive producing, let’s hope his influence does for this what he managed with a certain other caped crusader’s renewal.

And we have a cast as fine as you could wish for. There’s Henry Cavill donning the new suits as Kal-El/Superman and his equally famous alter ego Clark Kent, Amy Adams has always been a winning presence in films as varied as Enchanted, Charlie Wilson’s War and Doubt so should be a nicely sparky Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne will surely bring all his customary gravitas as Perry White to rule the roost at the ‘Daily Planet’, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane look like a good team as adoptive parents the Kents, the dynamic Michael Shannon is bound to make a real mark as General Zod and Russell Crowe is already sounding good in the trailer as Superman’s real father Jor-El.

First impressions bode well. Look up at the sky…
