“Whatever it takes” you can’t miss Avengers: Endgame

Until Star Wars Episode IX opens, the movie event of the year is surely the culmination of 11 years of Marvel fun in the terrific-looking AVENGERS: ENDGAME.

In some ways, it doesn’t feel all that long ago since Samuel L. Jackson’s super tough Nick Fury walked into Tony Stark’s (the one and only Robert Downey Jr.) life in Iron Man. But it was 2008 and since then, Marvel Studios have released a mind-blowing collection of films that have introduced us to some memorable comic-book characters and superheroes. Now, the likes of Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton, T’Challa, and James ‘Bucky’ Barnes (and that’s just for starters) have become as much a part of our culture as some of their more iconic superhero names – Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Black Panther, and The Winter Soldier.

And watching the official full-length trailer for AVENGERS: ENDGAME which hit the web recently, my lip definitely began to quiver when I heard Chris Evans as Cap (my favourite character of the lot) say he’d do “whatever it takes” to avenge the catastrophic events of last year’s Avengers: Infinity War when half of the universe was wiped out by Josh Brolin‘s deeply menacing Thanos and his Infinity Gauntlet. Now Cap and his fellow survivors must put their grief behind them, band together and make things right.

But the Avengers do seem to have two aces up their sleeves in this climactic fight. Firstly, there’s Scott Lang (a.k.a. Ant-Man) played with real zip and zing by the brilliant Paul Rudd and who could definitely help out with anything Quantum Realm/alternate dimension-related – said to be a major part of this new movie. Then we have the newest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Carol Danvers (a.k.a. Captain Marvel) superbly played by Oscar-winner Brie Larson, who’s pretty much the most powerful superhero in the universe, alongside Chris Hemsworth’s terrific Thor, and could certainly make all the difference in an intergalactic battle. Oh, and check out the fab meet-cute between them at the end of the trailer, it’s a doozy.

So, the stage is well and truly set for an almighty showdown between our beloved Avengers and Thanos in what promises to be the movie event of the year – until Star Wars Episode IX opens in December! In the meantime, ready yourself for 25 April when the film is released in the U.K. and have a watch…
